Anxiety Disorder Symptoms - Do you know what they are?
Would you be able to identify any anxiety disorder symptoms if you had them?
I imagine you are visiting my anxiety disorder symptoms page because you are suffering with anxiety yourself and perhaps you are looking for some help with anxiety problems.
There is unfortunately still a stigma
attached to mental disorders such
as anxiety disorder, but it is important that you do not let this stop you from
seeking medical help if you think your anxiety is such that you require it.
You would be amazed at how
common anxiety disorder is but not only that, you might be amazed to realise how much can be
done about treating anxiety symptoms
naturally and otherwise. It is for you to decide what is best for you and your anxiety, with
your physicians input usually.
While it is normal for every man and woman to, at
different points in their lives, feel anxious about certain things that come up
in their lives, it is not normal for these worries and fears to dominate your
life and stop you from doing things you want to do.
You may be indeed suffering from anxiety
disorder symptoms if you are unable
to life your life because of these anxieties and worries. Since anxiety
disorders are a bunch of associated conditions instead of a single disorder,
they may manifest themselves quite differently from individual to individual.
For example, one fellow might experience harsh anxiety attacks that come
without a forewarning, and another guy may start to panic at the mere thought of
mingling at a party. As far as anxiety disorder symptoms go, the biggest, most
overriding common bond that they all feature is a persistent and a severe fear
or worry in a harmless situation that the majority of people would not be scared
of.
What follows is a large list of many of the
more common symptoms of anxiety
disorder but it is important to realize that no one will have all of them, nor
will they have them all of the time. It is possible that they will have some of
the symptoms just some of the time, and the intensity of them may vary
significantly from day to day or even minute to minute in some cases.
Physical Symptoms
The reason that there are physical anxiety disorder symptoms is because
anxiety is so much more than merely a feeling. Since anxiety is a product of
your body’s fight-or-flight response, it involves a number of physical symptoms.
One problem that this sheer number of physical anxiety
symptoms presents for
sufferers of anxiety disorders is that they are prone to confusing their anxiety
disorder for an actual medical illness. As a result, these people might visit
numerous doctors and even make a good number of trips to hospitals before their
anxiety disorder is actually discovered.
In fact, having worked with patients with health anxiety, I know how common it is for them to end up in the Emergncy room with them and even the doctors at first thinking they have a heart problem, only to discover that it was anxiety that led to those symptoms because those symptoms are in fact part of anxiety disorder.
Pounding Heart
This may not be too helpful in determining if you really have an anxiety
disorder, but a pounding heart is one of the common, physical symptoms of
anxiety. This stands to reason when you think about it, and in my years of
practice, I’ve often noted that people who suffered from anxiety had pounding
hearts.
Sweating
If you always feel anxious and full of worry, it is only natural that your
body will start to sweat a lot more.
Stomach Upset
An upset stomach can indicate a lot of other things, so it is important to
look at stomach upset together with any other physical anxiety disorder
symptoms.
Frequent Diarrhea or Urination
Frequent diarrhea or urination is common as a result of all the excessive
fears and worries that you are experiencing with anxiety
disorders.
Shortness of Breath
If your mind is constantly racked with worry about any number of things, it
may soon affect your ease of breathing. Shortness of breath is a telltale sign
of physical anxiety disorder symptoms.
Tremors and Twitches
In my practice, I have seen people who have had anxiety disorder display
tremors and twitches that they couldn’t control.
Muscle Tension
Muscle tension is common with anxiety disorders because the constant dread
and fear will make it hard for you to relax.
Headaches
Headaches manifest themselves as a result of all that worry that has made it
difficult to do everyday things.
Fatigue
Fatigue may appear as a result of all the lost sleep you have from worrying
over things excessively.
Insomnia
Insomnia may occur as a result of your mind being overly active with extreme
dread and worry over future events.
Emotional Symptoms
The emotional anxiety disorder symptoms oftentimes go beyond just simple
worry and fear that are both irrational as well as excessive.
Dread or Apprehension
Anxiety disorder symptoms like dread or apprehension appear if your anxiety
disorder is particularly severe.
Concentration Troubles
The irrational fear and worry of anxiety disorders can begin to affect your
concentration because they will intrude on your ability to do things
effectively.
Tense and jumpy Feelings
Tense and jumpy feelings happen because you are not at ease from all your
constant worry and fear.
Fearing the Worst
Due to all the worry and fear, you may become pessimistic and naturally fear
the worst outcomes in situations.
Irritability
Being irritable results from always feeling the overwhelming fear and worry
of anxiety disorders.
Restlessness
I have seen patients with anxiety disorder symptoms display restlessness on
quite a few occasions.
Hypervigilance
Because of all the dread you feel, you will be more likely to always be
watchful for any possible signs of danger which leads to incredible feelings of anxiety. The point here is that the degree of
this is over the top and in the end the anxiety symptoms interfere with everyday life.
As you just read, anxiety disorders are both
complicated and confusing because there is just so much going on in the
afflicted individual’s mind. If you feel like you cannot handle your anxiety any
longer, it is recommended that you seek professional help as soon as you can.
You may be tempted
to immediately address your anxiety disorder with prescription drugs, but it is
always wisest to first try all-natural
cures
if possible, which you can read more about on
this website. Your anxiety disorder symptoms should not be ignored by you,
especially if they have become debilitating.
