A Natural Acne Remedy Can Help
Various Natural Treatments For Acne can be found on these pages
So you are looking for a natural acne remedy, if you have found your way to my page, you have probably had acne for a long while, and now you are looking for a natural remedy because either the usual prescribed or OTC creams, lotions or potions did not work or the results were only temporary.
Maybe you are also concerned about the possible effects that the long term use of these kind of chemical and drug filled things might have on your skin or even inside your body (yes the skin absorbs so it figures that it is going to absorb the good stuff but also the bad stuff too if it is plastered in it every day, day in and day out) so a natural remedy for acne becomes more relevant to you.
Well you have come to exactly the right place to find out what you need to do and what natural acne remedy is available to you. My being a nurse of way too many years to want to even think about, as well as a natural health practitioner for many years too, makes me just the right person for you to take notice of.
I have broken the subject of natural acne remedy down into several areas so you can navigate straight to what interests you most though I highly recommend that you then come back and read the whole section as then you will be best placed to formulate a natural acne treatment plan that best suits you, your needs, lifestyle and budget.
Ok so let us now move on to the “meat” of the issue. The reason you came to my web site in the first place.
Natural Acne Remedies
So I am going to assume that you have read all of the other pages above already, or will be doing once you have read this one so now I will talk only about the remedies that I have seen used and know can and do work.
Homeopathic Acne Remedies
If you have read my About Me page then you will know that homeopathy is one of my favourite natural approaches for many things because it is so safe and effective.
As you will realize, with 3,500 different ones to choose from, I can only talk about a few common and easy to find ones that I know bring significant results for many people.
Hepar Sulphuris
Sometimes known as Hep Sulph for short or Hepar Sulphuris Calcareum to give it its full name. This is a natural acne remedy that is particularly suited where there are yellow pus filled spots or cysts which may or may not have reached the discharging stage.
If there is discharge, as already mentioned it tends to be yellow but is also a bit thicker in consistency and though this is pretty horrible, if you smell the discharge it will be offensive and is often described as smelling like old cheese.
It also suits acne where the skin is really tender and painful to the slightest touch, with the pain frequently described as sharp, even splinter or needle like.
I have found that this particular natural acne remedy works really well in combination with the one below. They seem to complement each other perfectly.
Silica
Please be aware that I am talking about silica (sometimes spelt silicea) in homeopathic form and not in any form. Its actions are completely different in other forms so do be sure to select homeopathic silica as your natural acne remedy.
Homeopathic silica is also a natural acne remedy where there are collections of pus and debris, and where there are spots and lumps and bumps that need to develop and come to the surface. It will cause suppuration and expulsion of all the pus and debris so that the skin can then get on and heal itself.
This is especially useful in teenagers or in anyone where the acne has become a chronic condition. If the sufferer happens to be pale and delicate or fragile looking (though they can have quietly stubborn personalities) and they tend to feel the cold then this remedy will be especially suited to them, but even if this is not the case, do not be afraid to try it.
It works for many people who do not fit this description also.
How To Use These Homeopathic Remedies
As mentioned in the write up about Hepar Sulphuris above, these do tend to work really well as a natural acne remedy in combination together. Combination products are readily available, in which case just follow the manufacturer’s directions.
If you prefer to buy them individually (whether you take them together or want to try first one and then the other) then go for a very low potency if you can get it. 12x or 6c three times a day is good.
The seller can help you work out what is best based on which particular potencies they supply.
Important Note
One thing to be aware of is that for the first few days or so these remedies may cause what we call “suppuration”. This means that any blind spots, not fully developed pimples or unripe boils and cysts may be “brought to a head” and begin discharging (after bursting).
This is a normal natural bodily mechanism and the homeopathic remedies are encouraging the body to have one last splurge, to get rid of all the gunk and debris before healing up once and for all.
It is important that this process is not interfered with but allowed and the skin just kept naturally clean and fresh while this occurs. Of course, this may lead to you feeling like things have got worse but they haven’t.
Stay with your natural acne remedy and soon you will start to see the improvement for yourself.
Skin Lotions and Potions
As you will know if you have read my Adult Acne Outbreaks and Natural Acne Cures pages, you will know that I am an advocate of keeping the skin naturally clean and fresh and certainly not using products that contain synthetic chemicals and preservatives etc.
However, there is sometimes a place for topical application of some products, especially in conjunction with homeopathic remedies above and the other lifestyle advice discussed in my other pages. This then truly becomes a holistic natural acne remedy. This is not just putting the proverbial band aid on the problem.
So, what products do I recommend that actually support and enhance the skins healing ability rather than clogging it further? Well here are a couple of absolute gems that I swear by.
Calendula
This is made from the humble marigold and in my opinion is one of the most powerful yet underrated little healing plants that we have. Its botanical name is Calendula Officianalis. Homeopaths use it for many different scenarios in homeopathic form but it does also come in creams and ointments and tinctures for direct application to the skin.
Amongst calendulas properties is its natural anti – microbial / anti –septic abilities. Consequently it will help to prevent infection but also assist in clearing it up once an infection is present. And if used as a skin wash, will help keep the skin free from bacteria that could invade and set up home once again, which is one of the reasons that this is such a great thing to do alongside of the other measures while you are waiting for those to really take hold.
Calendula is a great natural acne remedy but since it has so many other uses, it really is worth keeping some in the house for everyday use when it is required.
Aloe Vera
This succulent is another incredibly powerful pant and these days most everyone has heard of it. This is no accident. It is also one of nature’s important natural antibiotics, antiseptics and healers with many different uses and nowadays it comes in various different forms, from creams and lotions to gels, to shampoos to tinctures and even in pessaries for thrush problems.
I have even grown it in my bath room and when had skin problem (one was a burn) I broke a little tip of a leaf off and wiped the fleshy and wet end of the leaf directly onto my skin. The effect was incredible. The pain eased almost instantly and repeating it at intervals, I found that it healed my skin very much faster and smoother than would have otherwise have been the case.
So basically Aloe Vera is definitely a wonderful natural acne remedy but with its versatility has many other uses too. This should be a stock item in one’s bathroom cabinet in my opinion.
Other Natural Acne Remedies
You may also wish to incorporate these measures into your treatment plan with the other measures that you are planning on adopting.
Essential Fatty Acids
These can be taken in the form of fish oil or flaxseed oil as the Omega Fatty Acids 3, 6 and 9 that they contain have been found to reduce skin inflammation
Zinc
A good zinc supplement (not zinc sulphate as this is not so easily used by the body) taken for a few months can also promote skin healing as it prevents a build-up in DHT (dihydro testosterone) which causes the skins natural oil, sebum, to be produced in excess, especially during puberty when hormones are raging (suitable for male and female acne sufferers)
Burdock Root
This is a blood purifier as well as a detoxifier so has obvious benefits when addressing the underlying issues that give rise to acne.
Sunlight
Try and get 15 minutes of sunlight a day (but not sunburn folks) as this helps to prevent bacteria proliferation on and in the skin.
Summary
So I hope this page has helped you to decide, in combination with the Adult Acne Outbreaks , Natural Remedies for Cystic Acne and Natural Acne Cures pages, on a particular natural remedy for acne (or maybe several)
You will probably know from other internet searches that there are so many products available for acne out there and I cannot possibly discuss them all. Not only that but I do not have experience with all of them so I have limited my selections to those approaches that I know.
With natural remedies and real lifestyle changes you can and do get results. I sincerely hope that you find your natural relief.
