Natural Remedies for Arthritis - Personalized Approaches
including homeopathic arthritis treatment
Are you interested in learning how natural remedies for arthritis can help with the terrible pain and stiffness?
You might be wondering whether there are any herbs, homeopathy or other natural remedies that might help this painful condition.
You or someone you care for might be suffering from osteoarthritis or even rheumatoid arthritis. You might wake up in pain every morning, and it takes you forever just to get moving.
Then, if you overdo, you're back to square one! Are you tired of being in pain all the time? Are you fed up with all the problems associated with arthritis?
It's only natural to want relief, but wouldn't you prefer it to be achieved through a safe, natural, gentle means that doesn't carry the risk of side effects? If so, you've found the right place. Please read on.
Who Am I?
If you've read my "about me" page, you already know I'm a natural health practitioner who specializes in homeopathy and several other treatment modalities, but I have also been a Registered Nurse for more than 30 years.
Because of my unique background, I have looked after arthritis patients using both traditional medical methods and natural, alternative techniques.
By the way, alternative medicine is sometimes called "complementary medicine" simply because it "complements" more traditional medicine. There's no need to decide between the two - it's possible to use them both by combining them.
Can I Cure You?
Let me make things perfectly clear: I am not saying I can cure you, of arthritis or anything else.
I am not a licensed physician, and you should not interpret any information on this site as being a recommendation for a particular treatment or as coming from an M.D.
Indeed, many health conditions are not only chronic but complex, and they require multiple personal consultations over long periods of time. And many conditions are notoriously difficult if not impossible to cure. I am not claiming to be able to cure arthritis.
So, What Can Be Done?
That doesn't mean you should give up. Natural remedies for arthritis might be able to give you some respite from the pain and stiffness.
In time, it might even improve your mobility. Regaining some quality of life is the most important thing, along with taking back control of your life in a way that is safe, gentle, effective, non-toxic, and free of harmful side effects.
Results Can't Be Guaranteed
Unfortunately, no one - including me - can guarantee results. People and their bodies are incredibly complicated, and everyone is different.
What works for one person may not for the next, even when traditional, modern medicine is involved. Some people respond to a particular treatment, but others who are given the same medications do not.
Many factors can influence how a person might respond to a particular remedy or medication. This is unpredictable.
So, choose carefully. Try to pick something that "speaks" to you. If you feel drawn to it, investigate. Read about it. Ask yourself if it fits with your situation. If it continues to appeal to you after doing all of that, then give it a try.
Remember, with trying natural remedies for arthritis you haven't lost anything if it doesn't work, but you have gained knowledge about your body and what does not work for it. This information is invaluable.
Are You Ready For Some Ideas?
Now that I've discussed those considerations, you might be ready for some ideas on natural remedies for arthritis.
I'll talk about some homeopathic remedies for arthritis first, because this is one of the areas I specialize in.
Please realize, however, that I'll only talk about a few of the best natural remedies for arthritis - there are many homeopathic remedies that can also help.
In other words, you shouldn't avoid trying a particular natural remedy for arthritis just because I don't mention it here.
There are many herbs, vitamins, essential oils and supplements which can help treat arthritis. You can learn more by visiting, Home Remedies for Arthritis where you will find specific information
This is what I was driving at earlier when I explained that we're all different and the natural remedies that help some people will not help others.
If you're aware of a different remedy and it looks like it could help, I encourage you to trust your own judgment and try it.
With all of these natural remedies for arthritis, unless you buy a pre-packed combination (in which case you simply follow the instructions on the package), try to get a low potency (not precisely the same concept as strength) such as a 12x or a 6c.
Take it by chewing or sucking (not swallowing) three times a day at different times throughout the day. If 30c is your only choice, limit taking it to no more than twice a day.
Before I get more specific, you might be interested in learning that homeopathic remedies typically work extremely well in combinations. If you'd like to try several at once, pre-prepared combinations of homeopathic remedies are available.
Although you could always buy several separate, individual remedies and take them at the same time, the pre-packed combinations reduce the need to be as precise in your selections.
The disadvantage of using combinations is that you might never know for sure which specific part or parts of a combination worked for you. You're the only one who can decide whether knowing that is important or not.
My own personal priority is obtaining relief, as quickly, safely and gently as possible.
Apis Mellifica
These natural remedies for arthritis are exceptional when the joints are reddened, hot to the touch, feel as though they're burning or stinging inside, and are swollen with fluid (in some cases a joint might be so swollen it feels really hard).
If you have joints that fit this description during a flare-up (or even constantly), Apis Mellifica will help bring relief and reduce the swelling, especially if you're able to obtain some temporary relief by applying something cold to the area.
You might think applying something cold is better for all burning pains - I used to believe that myself - but that's not always the case. If you have burning pain that improves when something hot is applied (as when you're taking a hot shower, for example), you should look into a homeopathic treatment called Arsenicum Album.
Apis Mellifica is also well-suited to being used for rheumatoid arthritis, but if you have osteoarthritis and your symptoms fit this description, then consider using it - the better the fit, the better the effect.
Rhus Toxicodendron
This is one of my all-time personal favorite natural remedies for arthritis pain and stiffness. Although it is made from poison ivy, there's no need to be concerned - in its homeopathic form, it has no poisonous characteristics.
The name Rhus Toxicodendron is sometimes shortened to "Rhus Tox," which makes it easy to remember. Think "Rhus T" (i.e., "RUSTY"). If your joints feel "rusty," Rhus Toxicodendron could be a suitable remedy.
Some people feel significant pain and stiffness when they first start moving around but their discomfort eases as they get "limbered up." Unfortunately, if they carry on, they often overdo things and start feeling worse again, requiring them to rest up.
The problem here is that once they rest, they stiffen up all over again, and the cycle repeats itself. It's all very wearing for the sufferer.
So, if this sounds like you, consider trying Rhus Toxicodendron - especially if your symptoms worsen during cold, damp weather but you're able to obtain some temporary relief from hot baths or showers.
Bryonia
Bryonia is particularly useful in natural remedies for arthritis and joint pain that worsens with movement, requiring you to remain still in order to obtain any degree of relief.
Being able to get some relief from applying pressure to the affected area (such as pressing your palm down over your knee, for example) is another indication that Bryonia could help.
Bryonia can be helpful when your joints are swollen (as they would be when Apis Mellifica can help) but more likely to be white, hard and cool to the touch instead of reddened and hot.
Sulphuricum
These natural remedies for arthritis can also help arthritis sufferers who have pain that gets worse from the evening on, or overnight in bed.
Lying down tends to aggravate this type of pain, which often burns. People with this type of arthritis pain feel hot themselves, and they often throw the covers off their feet at night so they get some cool air.
Their symptoms worsen if they're exposed to any kind of heat, including hot weather, sitting near a fire or radiator, becoming too hot in bed and so forth.
Additional Options for Natural Remedies for Arthritis
Glucosamine
Most people have heard of glucosamine by now. It is an amino sugar that is made naturally by the body, and a great deal of research and evidence has shown that it does indeed help many people find some relief from their arthritis symptoms.
It promotes greater flexibility, tone and strength in the muscles as well as in the joint's connective tissues, including cartilage and bone - the weak spots in arthritis. In my experience, glucosamine can often be a real winner when taken with certain homeopathic combinations.
I could go on and on about different natural remedies for arthritis, but I'm keeping this to just a few remedies that I know can help. Otherwise, this site would become just like all the other web sites out there. It would be vague and confusing, and you wouldn't be sure what to trust or where to turn.
I want you to read the pages of my web site and feel that I am someone you can trust because I have the experience to back up what I say. I want to equip you with enough information to be able to look into natural remedies for arthritis and start taking care of yourself in a safe, natural way. I hope I've succeeded.
